How It Started
It began with a simple act of kindness. When freezing temperatures settled over Springdale, a handful of neighbors opened their doors, shared what they had, and welcomed others in. From that spark of compassion grew the Springdale Warming Shelter — a community-led refuge committed to offering a place to belong on winter's coldest nights.
Our Mission
We believe no one should endure the cold alone. The Springdale Warming Shelter exists because volunteers, faith communities, and local partners come together with one shared purpose: to care for our neighbors. Belonging, safety, and compassion aren't extras — they're the foundation of everything we do. Each night we open our doors, we choose to stand with those who are often overlooked and remind them that they're loved.
Led by Neighbors
The heart of this shelter is the people who make it possible. Volunteers greet guests, prepare meals, offer friendship, or stay awake through the night to ensure everyone is safe. Their everyday acts of generosity have created a place where compassion is the standard and everyone is welcomed as they are. Each person who steps inside — guest or volunteer — becomes part of a story much bigger than themselves. It's a story of a community that refuses to overlook and proclaims the worth, value and dignity or each individual.
